Clinical Workshops

The Clinical Workshops occur across the conference days. The cost to purchase a clinical workshop is $20 each. To purchase a clinical workshop, you must be registered as a Full In-Person Delegate.

Burns & Wounds  

Burns and wounds can pose a significant challenge for Nurse Practitioners. The aim of this workshop will be to enable participants to gain insights into current best practice for managing these presentations, tips on diagnosing different burn & wound presentations, management options including wound management, Antibiotic Stewardship, when to refer, and ongoing care once healed. The workshop will have an interactive presentation where audience participation is encouraged to enable maximum benefit to attendees. The workshop will also include a practical session where wound challenges are discussed and solutions proposed and demonstrated by the presenter to enable participants to gain practical skills for both wound and burn management. The workshop will encourage participants to discuss their issues when managing burns and wounds to enable management solutions to be explored that apply to their practice.

Dental 

Dental trauma often occurs after hours and on weekends as a result of falls, sports and alcohol-related injuries. Access issues together with the substantial costs attached to dental treatment, commonly leads patients to seek treatment from their local medical service provider or hospital emergency department. There is an expectation therefore, that non-dental clinicians should be able to provide appropriate emergency management for common traumatic dental injuries (TDI’s). 1,2,3 This workshop aims to provide knowledge and practical skills in assessing and managing TDI’s using didactic, case discussion and hands-on simulation learning utilising dental models and simple dental materials.

Ultrasound - Access

A condensed program aiming to provide a theoretical understanding of DIVA and practical, bedside solutions through an interactive lecture and simulated practice. We will cover Vessel Health and Preservation Principles, assisted technologies that will include basics of ultrasound and techniques to optimise first attempt success for peripheral venous access as well as principles to minimise post insertion failure.
